Tips on improving your health

Chiropractic Services for Townsville

Chiropractic Care

Chiropractic CareChiropractic is a drug and surgery free modality of treatment concerned with the diagnosis, management and prevention of mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system; this includes the effects of these disorders on the function of the nervous system and general health. In summary, chiropractors focus on the detection and correction of aberrant spinal function and its subsequent effect on how the nervous system controls and coordinates the body in response to its environment.

At Kirwan Complete Care we use a range of chiropractic and soft tissue techniques whose use depends upon the person we are seeing and their condition.

Injury Rehabilitation

injury rehabilitation The chiropractors and physiotherapists not only assess and treat the site of an injury, but also evaluate the underlying causes, such as mechanical or structural problems, which may have caused it to occur in the first place, or prevented full recovery. In this way we look at not only reducing pain, but also at improving function and performance during recovery.

This includes but is not limited to; neck, mid back, low back, shoulder, elbow wrist, hip, knee and ankle injuries.

Remedial Massage

Remedial Massage Remedial massage is the assessment and treatment of your muscles, connective tissues, ligaments and tendons dysfunction to help with a healing process of those structures. Your remedial massage therapists will discuss your current health status and assess your body for any structures that can be causing pain and make a decision on the best treatment plan for you. Some of the benefits of having regular remedial massage includes: improved blood and lymph flow, decrease scar tissue and adhesions, restored muscle length, relaxation, promotion of normal joint and capsule position.

ART

ARTActive Release Technique (ART) is a patented, state of the art soft tissue system/movement based massage technique that treats problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves. Headaches, back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, shin splints, shoulder pain, sciatica, plantar fasciitis, knee problems, and tennis elbow are just a few of the many conditions that can be resolved quickly and permanently with ART. These conditions all have one important thing in common: they are often a result of overused muscles.

Dr Paul Klich is one of the few people in North Queensland with full body ART qualifications.

Dry Needling

Dry NeedlingDry needling is the use of either solid filiform needles (also referred to as acupuncture needles) or hollow-core hypodermic needles for therapy of muscle pain. Dry needling is sometimes also known as intramuscular stimulation (IMS). It is often confused with acupuncture, though the treatment tool is the same, the philosophy of acupuncture is that of Chinese medicine and not the same as Dry needling.

Myo-Bars

MYO BarsMyo Bars or Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization is an adjunct therapy involving use of profiled edge tools to potentiate a variety of muscle or fascial techniques . The method employs a collection of five stainless steel tools of particular shape and size, which are used by practitioners to release patients' muscles in order to detect and resolve adhesions. Several examples of Myo-Bars treatment have been used in triathlon , NRL, AFL, cross fit and contact sports where scars and contusions are common.
